FINAL ROUND COMPETITION DETAILS
Theme:
Construct an autonomous Line following Robot which can navigate a grid of black lines.
Out Lines of The competition:
Robot Should start from ‘START’ Cell of any Zone(A, B, C, D) and Should travel through Grid(of Black Lines) of the same zone to Reach at Home ‘Cell’ in minimum possible time.

Arena Specification & Setup:
- All dimensions in centimeters.
- All Lines are Black in color. (4cm width Black color Lamination tape is used for drawing lines)
- Maximum ROBOT size : 25 Cm X 25Cm
- Grid Size: 50x50Cm
- Arena Size 450x450cm
- Game Arena Background would be White in color.
- Line width 4.00 cm(Laminated black Tape will be used as a black line)
Structure of Game:
- 4 teams will perform at a time on the game arena.
- Each team will have their respective zones(A, B, C, D) and the ‘START’ cell.
- Robots should start moving from START cell and will have to reach Home cell while navigating through their respective Zones.
- Robot which takes minimum time to reach the Home cell first will be declared winner of this round and will qualify for next round.
- All Matches will be played on knockout basis, Out of 4 only 1 team will qualify for next round.
- Total duration of the match is 180 seconds.
Bot Specifications
- Each team is allowed to have only one bot.
- The bot must fit into a cube of dimensions 25cm x 25 cm x 25 cm(lxbxh).
- The bot must use only on-board power supply. No external off-board power supply is allowed.
- The max voltage difference between any two points must not exceed 18V.
- The bot must be fully autonomous with all powering and motoring mechanisms self contained.
- Human operators are not permitted to enter any information into the bot during the event. The bot must not communicate with any wireless device also.
- The bot must be started by only one switch. However, a team can have a separate switch for restart.
- The bot cannot be constructed using ready made Lego kits or any ready made mechanism. But you can make use of ready made gear assemblies. Violating this clause will lead to the disqualification of the machine. Robosapiens India Robotics kit can be used for the competition.
- Robot Should only Use AVR Atmega Microcontroller
Pre-Game Setup:
Each team will be allowed a slot of 5 mins to calibrate their machines on a test track. Just before the run, teams will get a chance to test their machines in the same lighting conditions at a smaller test track besides the main track.
Game Procedure:
There will be various rounds on knockout basis. 4 Teams will participate at a time on the game arena.
KnockOut Round:
- All Zonal winner teams selected from various zonal centers will compete in this round. It will be a knockout match.
- Four teams will compete at a time in this round on different arenas of same orientation (same track). The team that completes the task first will be declared as the winner of the match and participate in next knockout round.
- The top three teams emerging from these rounds will be declared as winners.
Rules:
- At the start of the run, the teams will have to keep the bot in the starting position(START Cell).
- A maximum of 3 restarts will be given to the teams. Every time a team opts for a restart, the bot will be restarted by placing the bot back to the starting position.
- At no point of time, bot is not allowed to cross the Black Line. If the bot crosses the Black Line completely , the team will have to restart the bot by placing it back in the starting zone.
- Each team will have 1 attempt.
General Rules
- Organizers will not be responsible for any minor scratches left by the previous machines on the arena.
- Any team that is not ready at the time specified will be removed from the competition automatically.
- The machines would be checked for their safety before the run and would be discarded if found unsafe for other participants and spectators.
- Any machine which damages the arena will be disqualified.
- Participants should not dismantle their robots before the completion of the whole competition as the machines might need to be verified by the organizers at a later stage to ensure that the participants have not violated any of the rules.
- Organizers’ decision shall be treated as final and binding on all.
- The organizers reserve the right to change any or all of the above rules as they deem fit. Change in rules, if any, will be highlighted on the website and notified to the registered participants.
Judging and Scoring
The score will be determined as follow -
Score = (180-T)
Where, T = Time taken to complete the task
Disqualification
- Any bot not conforming to the specifications provided will be instantly disqualified.
- Any bot which damages the arena will be disqualified.
- Any misbehave with the organizers will lead to disqualification.
Team Specification
A team may consist of a maximum of 5 members as per zonal Rounds rules.
Eligibility
Only Zonal Winners of RoboTryst-2012 are eligible for the competition.
Certificate Policy
Certificate of Excellence will be awarded to the top 3 teams. Certificate of Participation of Final Rounds will be given to all Participating Team.
